Eight is two doubled three times over, which gives this table the most reliable fallback of any of the harder ones: to find 8 x 6, double 6 to 12, double again to 24, double once more to 48. It also has an unusually tidy last-digit pattern — the answers end in 8, 6, 4, 2, 0 and then repeat — so a wrong answer often announces itself before you check it. These sheets use the ordered pages to make that descending pattern visible before switching to mixed recall.

Ordered sheets from 8 x 1 to 8 x 12, mixed-order recall, and missing-number rows in both directions. Some pages set the four times fact beside each eight fact so the doubling relationship is on the page rather than in the instructions. Division facts from the same table appear on the later sheets. One worksheet per US Letter page, black and white.

Frequently asked questions

What is the last-digit pattern in the 8 times table?
The units digits go 8, 6, 4, 2, 0 and then repeat: 8, 16, 24, 32, 40, 48, 56, 64, 72, 80. They step down by two each time, wrapping around at zero. Every multiple of eight is even, so an odd answer is always a mistake.
How does double-double-double work?
Because eight is two times two times two. Doubling a number three times multiplies it by eight. For 8 x 7: 7 becomes 14, 14 becomes 28, 28 becomes 56. It is slower than recall but it never fails, which makes it a good safety net during a test.
Which 8 facts cause the most trouble?
8 x 7 and 8 x 6 are the usual culprits, since they sit in the same difficult region as the sevens. 8 x 8 equals 64 is another one worth drilling on its own, as square facts are often skipped when practicing in order.
Should the 4 times table come first?
It usually helps. Every eight fact is double the matching four fact, so a secure four times table halves the work. If the fours are shaky, practicing those first tends to be faster overall than tackling the eights cold.
